SOFACQ Gallery
Daan Gielis lives in Antwerp and works in Hasselt and Genk. His installations have an autonomous aesthetic language that arises from the composition of self-designed constructions and found objects such as plants.
His installations incorporate an expectation of narrative elements. They seem to refer to something that happened or an enigmatic event that caused its emergence.
Daan Gielis graduated with a master's from St-Joost, 's-Hertogenbosch in 2013 and visual art from the Provincial College Hasselt in 2010.
His work has been shown in the following exhibitions (a selection): Auction MDD, Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens , Deurle, 2014; Interpunction # 7, Tatjana Pieters Galerie, Ghent, 2014; Wild Horses & Trojan Dreams, Marres, Maastricht, 2013; Friends & Neighbors, studio Koen van den Broek (curated by Wouter Davidts), Merksem, 2013; Young Guns, Hajke Müsstege Gallery, 's-Hertogenbosch, 2012; Leaving for a living, Manifesta Parallel, Genk, 2012.
